This might seem like a funny post for a Scrapbook Lady, but I love Legos! They are great subjects to take photos of and I just think they are super cool. A few readers have asked me about how I organize my growing Lego collection so I thought I would show you some of my ideas.
My very favorite thing about Legos has to be the minifigs (the little Lego dudes). I LOVE them! They are the stars of the show for me and I like to keep them organized to use for photo shoots. Before you think I'm too crazy, just think about how hard it is to pose real people for photos. Legos are so much easier!
Some of my minifigures are leftovers from my brothers and my son's Lego playing days so there are some missing legs, hats, arms, etc. I'm going to order some parts from the Pick A Brick section of Lego.com to get everybody all put together again.
I use art bin containers because they fit nicely with my craft closet organization.
I also really love the big theme sets from Lego. I keep the instruction guide and a photo of the box with the set for reference, but I do separate out the mini figures to keep in storage with their buddies. That way they get to lead a more varied existence. lol! I get a lot of my Lego inspiration from this guy and he uses the mini figures in very creative ways.
The big kits are definitely trickier to store. I haven't exactly figured that one out yet because I just received my first big kits last Christmas. I'd like to keep them built and display them somewhere, but my son's room is overrun with Bionicles (I think we should own stock in the Lego company!) and I don't have a lot of display space to spare. The smaller pieces and mini figures are easy because they fit in containers on my shelves. I'll keep you posted about my big sets once they are built. Do you want to see what I have?
I better get building! (or have my Lego minions do it for me)

I also love this Box 4 Blox that sorts Legos by size. I bought it last year (its' a little pricey) and I think it was a great purchase. (I'm not affiliate for the site or anything, just a satisfied customer). My 6 year old nephew thought it was really neat too and he had a lot of fun sorting through Legos at my house. He kept asking me where all my Lego guys were though, and I just couldn't bring myself to share my newly sorted mega collection of mini figures with him. Does that make me a bad Aunt? lol! I do let my kids play with them because they are older and understand why I like to keep the little dudes photo ready. So the Box 4 Blox is mostly for freestyle building projects because it's just filled with random loose bricks.
