Farewell Two Peas

Two Peas in a Bucket announced yesterday that they are closing. Like so many other scrapbookers, I have many memories tied into that site. When I started digital scrapbooking in 2005, 2Peas is where I went to learn, buy products, and get encouragement. I made friends there - and I still keep in touch with many of them today through Facebook and other online channels. It was a life-changing experience and I can’t help but feel a little sad to see them close their doors.

I really haven’t hung out at 2 Peas much since 2007, so I certainly can’t complain that they would make the decision to close. I loved it there for a long time, but after a while, it wasn’t the place for many digi scrappers because of the inability to freely discuss outside designers and products. That’s understandable for their business model, but at the time it was hard to move on.

I’ve never deleted my gallery there, even though it was incredibly outdated and filled with layouts that were scrapped when I had no knowledge of shadowing or many of the skills that I would later find. I’ve always resisted deleting my account there because it was filled with memories of the friends I had met and a time in my life where I really needed that kind of community. I still treasure the comments on those early layouts!

If you have been scrapbooking for more than a few years, I bet you have memories of 2 Peas as well. It has been home to many. This article by Nancy Nally on Scrapbook Update will remind you of the talent that has been grown in that garden.

Farewell to twopeasinabucket.com and thanks for the memories!
