Wow! What a month we had in June! Good thing I have my roundup to help me recap it all before I forget. Here’s what happened in June of 2012:
What reading/learning did I do this month? (books, blogs, magazines, ebooks, podcasts, classes, etc.)
I spent a good part of the month reading travel guides and websites to help us get around in Washington D.C. and New York City. I read and studied Everyday Storyteller (great!) and Scrap Your Real Life (another new favorite that I will blog about soon).
What entertainment did I watch/listen to this month? (movies, tv shows, plays, music, concerts, etc.)
I had no shortage of entertainment this month. We saw Mary Poppins and Wicked on Broadway and loved them both. We watched Little People Big World one Sunday afternoon while we rested in our hotel room. We had never seen the show before but found it very interesting and enjoyed watching it. I’ve still been watching Frasier on Netflix and I’m on season 8 now.
What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
Hubby and I went to 2 dinner parties and 3 wedding receptions. My Dad and brother Zach came to town for a quick weekend visit. We went out for two fabulous dinners with them, played chess, and just visited. My son took a chess class and really enjoyed it. My daughter went to two gardening classes with a family friend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My daughter also had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with her grandparents – lucky her!
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
3 wedding gifts – 2 of them were grocery gift certificates and the other one was a large bread basket of goodies filled for a newly blended family. My husband had a birthday and I helped him go clothes shopping and out to dinner. I made cookies for my husband for Father’s Day. My Dad had a birthday and Father’s Day so I gave him some healthy treats and a few small gifts. I’m going to finally give my Father-in-Law his Father’s Day gift today – we’ve had a really hard time getting together because of all of our schedules.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
Ten days worth of very expensive meals in Washington DC and New York City, plus souvenirs, theater tickets, museum admissions, and travel costs. It was an expensive adventure, but totally worth it. We activated one of our old phones for my son so he could have his own cell phone. I purchased a fancy keyboard case for my iPad and I absolutely love it! My hubby bought himself a guitar. I was pretty surprised that he just came home with a guitar one day, but he has always wanted to learn. Kudos to him for following his dream!
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
Remember that shoulder I injured last month? Well I really messed it up while I was on vacation. I’ve been taking steroids and muscle relaxers but it still hasn’t gotten better. I’m going to see a shoulder specialist today. I’m not happy about that!
I did pretty good to not get sick much on my trip, especially with all my food sensitivities, but I must have eaten something wrong because I spent one morning of our trip being quite sick.
My son got a cold on our trip, but somehow the rest of us avoided it. Pretty amazing when you consider we were all sharing a hotel room together for 10 days.
What were my accomplishments this month?
Took my kids to the dentist (no cavities for either one of them!) and took my son to his doctor. We took him off a medication that was having too many side effects so we’ve been going through some adjustments for him. So far, it’s been a good move. I feel like our trip was a HUGE accomplishment for all of us and I’m so happy that we got through it all with safety and tons of fun. Feeling very blessed.
I recorded 3 episodes of The Digi Show podcast with Steph, Peppermint, and some amazing guests. It’s always one of the highlights of my week!
I scrapped layouts. (Each one is linked to where it originally appeared)
I photographed twelve pictures on the 12th of the month (I’ve got a 6 month streak going now!) and I kept up with my iPhone photo-a-day project. I started on December 1st and I’m still going strong. I’m very proud of myself for this!
What were my disappointments this month?
I’ve really missed my friend who passed away last summer. It’s almost been a year and she’s just been on my mind a lot lately. I have another friend who has been going through a tough time and I’ve been worried about her. I STILL haven’t uploaded all of my vacation photos to my computer and Flickr. It’s driving me crazy, but apparently not enough to make me do anything about it! Very unlike me and I totally know better.
How did I do on my goals for the month? (Or any current short or long term goals)
I’ve been working hard on some long-term projects with the help of everyone in our family. Hubby has come up with a great chart system for all of us that I really like. He learned about it in SCRUM training. We like to jokingly refer to it as SCUM training but for some reason he doesn’t think that’s as funny as the kids and I do.
Well, I think that was a pretty amazing month if I may say so myself! How did your month go? Have you done your roundup yet? Don’t let the memories slip away from you because you will forget all of these details UNLESS you write them down!
