I wasn’t sure if I should be excited that the 12th of the month occurred during our vacation, or if I should feel bad that I wouldn’t be capturing “everyday” life. The 12th of May was also a bit out of the ordinary for me, but I guess that’s the beauty of a project like this – you just record what you are doing on the 12th day of the month no matter where you are. I certainly had no problem taking 12 pictures on June 12th!
We bought subway passes so we could get around the city.
We patted ourselves on the back for figuring out the right subway stop.
We spent a good portion of the day at the American Museum of Natural History which is the one that the Night at the Museum movie is based on.
We saw big dinosaurs,
learned about the brain,
and saw almost everything we learned about in my daughter’s natural science class this year. Talk about a great field trip!
There were some cool “hands on” exhibits. Sorry, I couldn’t resist the pun!
We used the official museum app to find out where the movie-related exhibits were located.
We visited our favorites like the capuchin monkey,
and the Easter Island statue. Notice that my daughter is holding gum? Fans of the movie will get the joke.
We ate at Ray’s Pizza, but we didn’t listen to Santa in Elf so we didn’t go to the real one. We should have taken his advice, because we weren’t thrilled with the pizza.
The best part of the whole day? Seeing Mary Poppins on Broadway!
What an incredible day!
