I seem to have a minor case of some bad juju going on. Nothing too terrible, but it seems like the universe is thumbing it’s nose at me for some odd reason. Of course, all of these problems can be classified as first world problems, but they are still obnoxious!
Insult #1 – Stolen Wreath
Apparently, someone walked up to my door and removed the wreath that I had wired on to a command-hook and then stole it. Really? It’s not like I live in a “bad” neighborhood.
Insult #2 – Banged up car with no note
On a dark, cold morning in mid-March, I went to the grocery store at 7 a.m. (I know that’s crazy!) I had a pretty full cart of groceries and the only other person I saw in the store during my shopping time ended up in line right behind me. She only had a few things to pay for so I told her she could go ahead of me. She seemed grateful. Then I went outside to load up my car and found it looking like this – big red paint marks and several scratches. I sort of think it had to have been the woman who I let get in front of me in line since I didn’t really see anyone else in the store. No note, just a banged up side of my car and the scratches almost the whole length of the car. My Mom says I should ask to review the store’s security tapes, but I don’t even remember what day it happened on. I should have made that my photo-of-the day, but I really didn’t want to think about it every time I looked at my photos. I’ve looked at where the cameras are in the parking lot and I’d be surprised if they would have captured it, especially on a dark morning.
Insult #3 – Hacked credit card number
Technically, it was my debit card that got hacked since we don’t use credit cards. Almost all of my online shopping is done via paypal and I rarely use our debit card online. Other than that, I use my debit card for gas and groceries. Recently, I made some hotel reservations for a trip we will be taking this summer. The very first day of our St. George vacation, I got a call from my bank asking me if I had made 6 different online purchases for $50 each to Google. Then there were a bunch of $1 charges and some other odd looking transactions. I certainly did not make those and my bank said we needed to close the card immediately and that they would take care of sending me a new card within a week. However, I was already on vacation with only a small amount of cash in my pocket. Thankfully, it didn’t impact my husband’s debit card since he has a different number than I do. It was a huge inconvenience and it is still under investigation. I won’t be held responsible for the charges, but it just makes you feel vulnerable to have something like that happen. I really wonder if it was the hotel reservation that did it? I’m just glad my bank caught it before there was too much damage done.
I’m hoping that I’ll run into some good karma soon and that I can shake some of the bad juju that has been worming it’s way into my life.
