When I jumped on the New52 bandwagon last year, I really had no idea what a fabulous project it would be for me and for my entire family! I guess the biggest surprise of all of it was how excited my kids were to encourage me to try new things. I feel like I set a really good example for them by being willing to try something new each and every week of the year. They were actually a little disappointed that I didn’t set this as a goal for 2012, but I explained to them that I am now in the habit of doing the “new” and I will continue to do so.
I apologize for bombarding you with 5 weeks worth of entries at once, but I’m anxious to get this project finished up before I lose my motivation to blog about it. So here goes…
Week #48 Neighbor’s open house
We have really awesome and festive neighbors who host a holiday open house every year. Those events are hard for my son so I usually stay home with him and send my husband and daughter over since they are much more social that I am. This year, I was the one who went with my daughter and I had a wonderful time. It was fun to visit with our neighbors and eat festive goodies.
Week #49 December Daily/Project Life album
I started a big something new with my combination of Ali’s December Daily + Becky’s Project Life. This will now be an annual tradition in my life. I still need to finish up the last few pages and blog about them. It’s on my list of things to do, I promise.
Week #50 Concert at Temple Square
Even though I’ve lived in Salt Lake City most of my life, I’ve never been to the annual Christmas concert on Temple Square. It’s an amazing program that is put on by the LDS Mormon Tabernacle Choir & a few distinguished guests. It’s free to the public, but tickets are hard to get. We were guests of an organization that my husband works with and we were treated to a wonderful dinner and fabulous seats. It was incredible!
Week #51 – Gifts for service providers
I have to admit that we’ve never remembered to give gifts to our mail carrier or other service providers before. We got caught up in the gift giving spirit though and set out little presents for everyone we could think of, including the recycling and trash collectors. I have no idea what they thought of it, but we all had fun writing notes and waiting to see if they took their gifts.
Week #52 – Kookaburra at the Albuquerque Zoo
I’ve never seen a Kookaburra bird before so I thought it was really cool to find one at the Albuquerque zoo. I took this picture through a glass pane and I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. What a beautiful little bird! Of course, I have to sing the song every time I look at this picture. lol!
I’m all done with my New52 posts! If you ever want to glance back at my year of New52 experiences, I’ve listed all of them in on this page.
