The 12th of February was on a Sunday, and I knew it would be tricky to remember to take 12 pictures that day. Sunday is the one day that I really don’t look at my calendar much, and I try to minimize my time online. It’s nice to have some time to regroup before the week gets going. I thought about it in the morning, but somehow it slipped my mind for the rest of the day until I looked at the clock at 7:20 p.m. Yikes! I was supposed to take 12 photos! I really don’t like night photography (especially indoors) but I left myself no choice – if I was going to follow through with my goal, I was going to have to make do. So I just started snapping away. I started off with a picture of my favorite clock on a stack of books that live on a table in my living room.
My guys watching the Grammy Awards.
Our tv screen during the Grammys.
I did spend a little time on Pinterest. I love to hang out on Pinterest on Sunday evenings while we all relax.
My son did some fact checking and research during the Grammy Awards show. When he didn’t know who an artist was, he would go hop on his computer and look them up.
I asked my kids if I could take pictures of them in their beds since I was documenting the night time routine. My daughter grabbed the camera from me to capture me tucking my son in. Even though my kids are teenagers, I still love to go tell them goodnight and tuck them in when possible. It’s a special routine that is meaningful for us. I’m grateful to have this photograph, even if it is a poorly lit and somewhat grainy night photo. None of that matters.
Two different friends brought us treats on Sunday (we are so lucky!) so I thought that would be a good thing to photograph. I had already eaten one of the missing sugar cookie bars and it was delicious!
Hubby wanted to know if he should wear a white or ecru shirt with his suit and tie for a business meeting he was preparing for. I chose ecru but I think they both look great.
My daughter and I realized we were wearing matching t-shirts so we decided that was worth photographing. We have matching ones from a past trip to St. George. She and I both like to sleep in old t-shirts. She wears hers with some fun pajama pants. I wear mine with a pair of yoga pants. I’m all about comfort, not style when it comes to lounging around on the weekend. You can see a portion of my globe collection in the mirror reflection. I need to photograph that someday. This mirror hangs right on the wall inside our front entryway. It’s a simple one from Target, but I really like it.
Time to get the girl in bed. She’s holding a cute stuffed animal that Alex picked out for her as a Christmas gift. I love her polka dot sheets! The bottom pillowcase was a gift from her aunt.
She charges up her phone at night (it’s my old phone) so it’s ready for the next day. The case is broken and has been for months, that’s why the bottom piece is sticking out. We need to get a new one.
I took a peek at my son who was fast asleep. I barely squeezed in the 12 pictures before I went to bed. That was cutting it close! While I never would have chosen to start my photo documentation so late in the day, I’m sort of glad it happened that way. I’ve never been good at capturing nighttime routines and memories and now I have a series of photographs all about life on a a Sunday night.
Did any of you take 12 on 12? I really want to do this every month this year. Guess I better set an alarm next time!
