I’ve been swamped this week with semester finals for both of my kids (we homeschool through a virtual academy) + my Roundup workshop on top of all my regular everyday busy life. I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel though. We finish up the last of the finals today and then we have a few days off before we begin our new semester on Tuesday. It sort of freaks me out a bit that it’s my son’s last semester of high school! It’s also very exciting though to help him move on to new adventures.
As soon as I started to write this blog entry, I thought of this little photo I took with my iPhone right before we left Albuquerque on January 2nd.
We flew home on a Skywest jet (Delta) and we have a lot of routines and traditions that help us get through the travel process. We are travel buddies because that is the most successful way for him to travel. It works out well because my daughter prefers Dad as her travel buddy. We know what works for us and it’s nice to have that figured out.
I thought about both of us sitting there in our seats, waiting for the plane to get ready for takeoff. There’s a lot of nervousness at that point of the flight. We are preparing, but we have to wait for a lot of things to happen before we are ready to go. We have our seatbelts on and we are ready. That feels a lot like where we are right now in life. We have a big journey (college and more) ahead of us and we are just entering into the final preparation phase before we embark. It’s time to fasten up those seatbelts and get ready. I feel honored to be his travel buddy for this important journey.

P.S. Just a quick reminder if you want to join in the 12 of 12 in 12 fun – be sure to get out your camera today and take 12 pictures. It’s as easy as that! I used the Elise font to create this little graphic.
