What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
I’ve been reading hundreds of blogs, online articles, and plenty of digital media. I’ve yet to cuddle up with a good book this summer.
.
What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
We watched The Adjustment Bureau and really enjoyed it – great movie! We watched The Green Hornet and thought it was pretty lame.
I love having netflix on my iPad so I can watch some mindless tv late at night. I’ve been watching Wings. It’s a great way to unwind at the end of the day. Other tv shows I watched with my kids include; Mythbusters, Extreme Home Makeover, Cake Challenge on Food Network, and Wizards of Waverly Place.

What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends
My parents came to visit for a week and we had a lot of fun with them. We were so silly - I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time! We kept ourselves pretty busy and had a great time. Here are some of the things we did (in no particular order)
- Gardner Village (twice)
- Quilt shop (twice)
- Ate dinner at Smash Burger
- Rode TRAX downtown
- Ate pie at The Lion House Pantry
- Took pictures at Temple Square, Joseph Smith Memorial Building, and of downtown construction projects
- Went out for gelato
- Went on a walk (a few for my dad, hubby, and daughter)
- Ate homemade pasta primavera (my daughter’s favorite meal)
- Saw Pirates of the Caribbean in the theater
- Watched the first Pirates movie on Blue Ray DVD (still my favorite)
- Watched Oceans on Blue Ray DVD (gorgeous movie!)
- Watched Mega Mind on Blue Ray DVD
- Attended a party at my Sister-in-Law’s house
- Ate homemade Mexican Haystacks
- Ate breakfast at Kneaders with my Dad and Alex
- Riley had a day of Grandma all to herself
- Ate a Nothing Bundt Cake (yum!)
- Ate lunch at Stella’s
- Lunch at Café Rio
- Dinner at Cracker Barrel
- Went to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels play at Hale Theater (great production!)
After my parents left, I was just a little tired. LOL!
We also got the opportunity to drive to Daybreak a few times and see the Extreme Home Makeover crew in action, right here in Utah! It was amazing to see how fast they put together a house, and really inspiring to see hundreds (maybe thousands?) of volunteers!
.
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
June is “man month” in my life. My brother-in-law had a birthday, Father’s Day for my Dad, Father-in-Law, and Hubby. My Dad had a birthday. My Hubby had a birthday. Somehow, we got through it all. My BIL and FIL got fishing flies and a case. My Dad got an amazon gift card. My Hubby got some new movies and treats. He also bought himself a new fly fishing vest.
.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
I bought some new walking shoes that I love. I actually got fitted for them by a shoe expert – a new experience for me, but it got me in the right shoes. We also bought a new patio table set at Target, a new gas bbq, and a patio umbrella. After 7 years in this house, we finally have our patio set up!
.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
I had so many doctors appointments that it made me crazy! I’ve been considering surgery for some prolapses (not going into any more detail – lol!) and I finally just decided to not do any surgery at this time. I’m managing, and that’s ok for me right now. I do think I might be having a problem with a root canal I had done last year, or perhaps I need another one. I guess I better make a dentist appointment.
In the good news department, I decided to finally get serious about losing weight. I joined a little online group of friends (most are local) and I use myfitnesspal.com (free) to track my food and exercise. It’s working. My progress is slow, but there is progress. Go me!
.
What were my accomplishments this month?
Worked in our garden, blogged at The Daily Digi, blogged here, and finished my Power Scrapping Digi Style class at Big Picture Classes. Steph and I also ventured out on our own and started The Digi Show podcast adventure! My son took the ACT. My daughter participated in a wonderful Pioneer trek event. (Even though those aren’t MY accomplishments, I consider them worth mentioning here because I’m proud of my kids!)
.
What were my disappointments this month?
Being burned out. This is still something I’m struggling with, but I finally feel a little bit of that lifting. I thought I would be all on top of things by this point in the summer, but I guess it’s going to take a while. My hubby even told me that he’s worried about me because I don’t seem to be able to get on top of everything I have going on. He’s right – it’s been too much lately, and I’m not keeping up with the important things. I guess I’m just going to have to settle for being human.
.
Anything else noteworthy to include?
Digi layouts from June (each one is linked to where it appeared online).
I also learned about (and fell in love with) diptychs.
Goodbye June! Hello July! Feels good to get my roundup done!

P.S. the font I used for the roundup titles is shadowed serif available for free on dafont.com.
