Welcome back to my summer blog tour. I think we should all get to travel the world more often, but that just isn’t practical for most of us. Thank goodness for the internet! I’m taking my blog “on tour” for the next few weeks so we can all enjoy a fun virtual vacation together. Hope you enjoy it!
DAY 11 – MASHABLE
Today’s visit is all about Mashable.com which is probably the only blog/site on my summer tour that my husband also goes to. It’s THE place to go if you want to keep tabs on what is happening in the world of the internet. Lots of technology news, as well as social media tidbits, and plenty of Apple watching (iphone, ipad, etc.). Mashable is not for those who don’t want a lot of information coming at them – there can be more than 10 posts a day, so it can be a bit overwhelming! I probably only read half of them at most because it would take too much time otherwise. There are also some entries that I have no interest in. A few even have links to questionable content, so take care in what you click on. Mashable does give warnings in those cases. I do enjoy the posts I read though, and my hubby and I spend a fair amount of time talking about things we found via Mashable. (We’re cool like that. LOL!)
I guess I’m a bit of a “geek” because I just love reading about stuff like this: (all images lead back to the related Mashable post)
Cord Management Ideas – Ok, I have serious cord issues – I hate them! I really think they ruin a lot of beautiful rooms, and I also think it is ridiculous that everything has a different cord. Why can’t anyone come up with a universal cord that will work for everything? I love that Mashable posts about things like this.
.
We love the Old Spice Guy around here, so I love finding posts like the Top 10 Funniest Old Spice Guy responses!
.
I always appreciate the Facebook Tips I find on Mashable.
.
Pretty interesting to read little-known facts about Microsoft
.
Great roundups of where to find free web icons.
.
Mashable also keeps you up to date on important things like when the new trailer for the next Harry Potter movie is available. I’m being serious here – that is important in my world!
.
Here’s the fun part of the blog tour – I’m going to show you how to pick up your own “souvenirs” from our online travels.
.
My photo - Yes, I bought Farmville Slurpees after learning of their existence via Mashable. I might have a bit of an addiction.LOL! And if you are wondering… you get a fun little sheep waterslide for your farmville farm when you enter the code in from the Slurpee.
.
My photo again. I used the photobucket technique explained in this Mashable Post about photo effects. I was familiar with some of them already, but I had never used photobucket for this purpose. So fun!
.
Download an app. Mashable regularly reviews apps, and here’s a post where they review more than 700 iphone apps.
.
Hope you enjoyed today’s tour. Keep your “passport” ready and join me tomorrow for another fun virtual visit!
P.S. If you are looking for the cute graphics I’ve used for these posts, they are all hand-drawn by Kate Hadfield and are available for purchase here. One of the kits I used has been retired, but she has a similar pack for sale here.
