I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how I find and use inspiration. It has also been striking to me how many of these sources are fairly new in my life. Makes me wonder what will be inspiring me in the next few years. I thought this was a great prompt for a Memory Monday post. If you want to play along with me just list 5 sources of creative inspiration in your own life. They can be online websites, books, movies, magazines, or whatever keeps you going in the creativity department. Here are mine:
1. The Daily Digi – This is where I spend a lot of my time lately so I guess it’s a good thing it is so inspiring for me! The Daily Digi has become my number 1 source of creative inspiration. When I write articles for the site, I learn so much. I also read the site every day and love the articles by Steph and other contributors. I’m constantly learning new digital scrapbooking tricks from the team members there. The readers are also a big part of the experience as they leave comments, participate in challenges, and submit layouts to the flickr group. I get the majority of my scrapbooking ideas from The Daily Digi.
2. Flickr – I’ve been smitten with flickr for some time now and it just hasn’t worn off. I love browsing the groups there and I get a ton of great ideas from my contacts. I really enjoy being the administrator for the Creative Spaces group and also being a co-administrator with Steph for the Digital Scrapbooking Inspiration group. I regularly add to my favorites file and those images constantly motivate and inspire me. You can see my photostream here. I can easily say that flickr is my number 1 resource for photography ideas and inspiration.
3. Paperclipping Digi Show – A weekly podcast show focused all around digital scrapbooking. It is so fun to listen to and I learn something new with every show. I was a guest on episode 1 and will be on again for episode 5 (available on July 1, 2010). I have actually been a little surprised at how inspiring it is to listen to a podcast! I love hearing from amazing scrappers like Liz Tamanaha, Anna Aspnes, Renee Pearson, Heather Lord, C.D. Muckosky, and more! You can read more about the show in my article published on The Daily Digi.
4. Paperclipping Roundtable – This was the first podcast I ever listened to and still a favorite of mine. This weekly show is centered around scrapbooking (usually paper based) and has some great guests such as Stacy Julian, May Flaum, Nancy Nally, Ali Edwards, Jessica Sprague, Tim Hotlz, and many more! 5. Twitter – This is another one of those places that I never thought I would be inspired by. I find so many links and ideas to explore from the people I follow on twitter. I also share fun finds through my own twitter stream which has made me pay a lot more attention to the ideas that are available around me.
Of course I have a lot of other sources that I go to when I need creative ideas, but these seem to be my “core curriculum” right now.
