I was fighting some serious "cabin fever" last Friday and decided that the kids and I needed to get out of the house for a little bit. We went to Target (where else would I go? LOL) and I fell in love with these dishes!
I don't even decorate for holidays like Valentine's Day and I'm actually very practical when it comes to buying things for my home. I don't like to store a bunch of extra stuff and I'm really about buying mix and match basics. But I had to have these! I think the typographic design is what did me in. I just love the written word I guess.
I even bought some fun placemats. The nice thing is that everything was very inexpensive since they are just plastic dishes. Also, we only have 4 in our family so I didn't need to buy a ton of dishes.
I heart these glasses! I couldn't wait to pour some milk into one of them. Hmmmm.... what should I have with my glass of milk? Suddenly, I needed a pretty treat to put on my new plates. I remembered a blog post from Such Pretty Things about her snowy day s'mores. I've been thinking about these for weeks now and I just happened to have some pink strawberry marshmallows on hand.
I decided that my ingredients should look pretty like hers did. I need more pretty things in my life!
That's better. Now for a little microwave magic.
Ok, so mine didn't turn out quite as pretty as hers, but they sure were yummy! And I even felt pretty while I ate them. ;) I also felt pretty fancy having s'mores on Valentine plates in the middle of an ordinary afternoon. Just the thing for a dreary January day!
