I'm a computer artist these days and it isn't too often that I get out a stack of paper to have fun. Lately, I've had the urge to do a bit of stamping though. I used to be big into rubber stamping back in the day. I was in a card exchange group with 14 other ladies in my old neighborhood and once a month we would gather to exchange handmade cards. We would each make 15 copies of a card and after the exchange you have 15 different cards to give away. It was fun and a good excuse to get together and have treats and visit. I do miss that sometimes, but I'm also glad to not have the pressure of coming up with a fabulous card design each month. Plus, I just don't send THAT many cards!
Nowadays, I get out the stamps when Art Girl wants to have some fun or when I need a little non-computer creative time. The stamps that interest me most right now are more on the practical side. There are only so many times I can use a stamp of a fish or a cherry, but monograms and interchangeable designs can be used over and over. Since Art Girl was bored the other day we got out this fun little stamp set from Stamp Castle.
I love how compact this set is and how neatly it all fits into the storage box. That was always one of the things I liked the least about stamping was how bulky and hard to store the stamps were. This set is very portable and easy to customize. And my daughter had no trouble coming up with all sorts of fun monograms.
You will notice I have a container of baby wipes next to her but she really didn't need them for this project since it wasn't too messy.
I love that the set came with an idea booklet that also explains how to do monograms. I like to seal my envelopes with a monogram stamp so she made us some pre-stamped envelopes.
You can also make little message stamps with this set.
