a whole new way to digi scrap!

            

Does anyone out there remember Garanimals?   Ok, I have to admit that I was shocked to find out they still make these! Anyway, the premise is that even a child can figure out which pants match which shirts because they only have to look at the animal on the tag to match them up. Well, I've always loved that idea and I've longed for that type of mixing and matching in the digital scrapbooking world. Wouldn't it be great if it could be a little easier?

So... I have been brainstorming and I have come out with a whole new and revolutionary way to build a digi scrap stash that can be mixed and matched in nearly endless ways!

The system starts with beautiful solid color papers. You can buy each color family in a pack of 15 or for the most economical approach you can get the MEGA bundle of 90 papers. Yes, 90 papers!

When you want a patterned paper that matches ANY color in the system, you can quickly make one. Really, you don't have to be a designer to do this! Simply take one of my overlays and fill it with 1 color of paper you want to use and then layer it over the other color. I think the system works best when you have a color family of solids to work with but honestly you can use just about any paper you already have in your digi stash with these.

They are available in packs of 9 overlays in the themes stripes, stars, or dots (more coming soon!) or I have a BUNDLE savings pack for a ridiculously low price!

What if you don't like making your own papers? No worries, I will still make plenty of fun paper packs and embellishment sets. AND from now on I'm going to make sure that they match papers in the SCRAP SYSTEM and I will let you know which packs they will coordinate with. Pretty cool huh? I think so. In fact, I'm really excited about this! I've been a scrapbooker for a long time so I understand what works together. I will help you take the guesswork out of the process and save you precious time since you won't have to endlessly dig through your files everytime you want to scrap.

I'm a day early with the roundup prompt this month because I have all sorts of fun stuff planned for Friday October 31st. It's Halloween that day but it is also the start of the weekend and this Saturday happens to be Digital Scrapbooking Day!

Make sure your scrapbooking area is cleaned up and organized. Put away new purchases (or organize your hard drive if you are a digi scrapper)

Look over the calendar for the coming month and make note of upcoming events you will want to capture for your scrapbooks.

Fabulous Fall

I'm not sure I remember a fall that I have enjoyed as much as this one. I've been going on walks almost every afternoon with my kids and the weather has been almost perfect for weeks now.

Not only are the colors outside nice and vibrant, but the photos on flickr are gorgeous as well. I had a lot of fun hunting for autumn images for this mosaic.

Hope you are having a nice fall day as well. (Or spring for those of you in the southern hemisphere!)

scrapped!

Last Sunday I blogged about what to do when you just can't find your scrapping mojo. Well, mine has been missing for a few weeks now which is funny because I've had no trouble with designing. I've had one of the more productive times in my designing life but I just haven't been able to get any layouts done.

I decided that enough was enough and I vowed to make a page tonight no matter what. It was tough but I pulled out a few other tricks that helped me through it. I decided to scraplift (code word for "copy") a layout from another scrapbooker. Why re-invent the wheel?

And I decided to totally change my approach. I've been trying to work on summer or fall photos and I just couldn't make it all come together. So I picked a Christmas picture. Gasp! It seems strange to scrap about Christmas when we are just a few days away from Halloween but there are no rules about this so why not?

 

I used a template from the Cathy Zielske class I've been taking and copied one of Cathy Z's own pages for inspiration. She used a different color scheme but the squares worked well for the colors of this fun Christmas kit by Shabby Princess.

 

I found the "joy" wordart in the new Shabby Princess holiday greetings pack

 

It really is a simple page but I am happy with how it turned out. And it felt great to get a layout done!

I think the 80's sound pretty nice these days with all the economic turmoil going on in our world. The 80's decade was a prosperous time in America and an interesting one also. I was a teenager in the 80's so it is a nostalgic time for me. I still love 80's music and I have Thompson Twins, INXS, Howard Jones, U2, and many other "awesome" songs from those years.

This quiz reminds me that I need to scrapbook about growing up in the seventies, and the eighties!
