Last day of July

it's roundup time! I will be posting my own roundup on Saturday the 2nd because tomorrow is 40% off Friday and I have some hot deals to share. Also, I will actually have 4 all new products so don't miss it!

Ok, on to the ROUNDUP!

If you are a "regular" 'round here, ya'll know the drill. If not, well, here's the scoop!

Think of this as a sort of "show and tell" about the past month. Answer some or all of the questions to "roundup" memories and great information to use for journaling and scrapbooking. This year I'm going to try to include more photos with my roundups to keep them fun and visually appealing.

I challenge you to join me in using the roundup tool. You can post your answers on your blog, use them on a layout, or just jot them down to as a record of the month's activities. You don't have to answer every single question and do all the tasks, just do what you can. You will be glad you did!

Backup your digital pictures to cd/dvd and upload them to an online site or two for an extra backup. Send the links to the online albums to friends and family.

Choose photos (or digital layouts) to be printed out and get that done while you are thinking about it.

Make sure your scrapbooking area is cleaned up and organized. Put away new purchases (or organize your hard drive if you are a digi scrapper)

Look over the calendar for the coming month and make note of upcoming events you will want to capture for your scrapbooks.

a little bit of everything

I've been so busy with little odds and ends the past 2 days that I haven't even had a chance to blog. If you are a regular around here you know that doesn't happen very often. Well, I get busy quite often... but I still almost always find time to blog!

What have I been doing? Sadly, nothing all that exciting. Just been working on our house, our taxes (we extended the deadline for 2007 so now I finally have to get everything together), and I've been shopping and cooking. I decided to try and be more organized about food preparation so I took my kids to Costco yesterday and we had a huge shopping trip. I hate going to Costco but love the prices and the food there so I thought I would set a goal to go once a month and stock up. That means that I have to do some food prep and advance meal making so I don't let all those bargains go to waste. My daughter and I made 5 casseroles tonight to put in our freezer. I'm hoping to do a few more tomorrow. That way on days where we are all tired out from school (and life in general!) we will have meals ready to go. I'm not sure if it is a great idea or not  - ask me in about a month.

 

Hubby and I also met with a lawyer today to work on our wills and estate planning. I always thought estate planning was for people who had a big estate - LOL - but it really just means you are planning for what happens to your assets and your loved ones once you make your grand exit. Totally not fun stuff to think about but it's all part of the whole being a grownup thing. I told hubby that I feel really old now that I have a will. LOL!

 

 

other than that, I have to say it's just been hot! We are in the "Dog Days of Summer" around here for sure.

 

 

 

 

My dog freaks out whenever I bring out the camera. It is hard to get a decent picture of her. She's basically telling me off while I was snapping this photo. Does anyone else have a dog that does this? It's a shame to not be able to take a decent picture of such a pretty dog.

Ok, I'm hoping to get in some designing and scrapping tonight but I'm getting pretty tired. Hopefully, I can keep my eyelids propped open a little while longer!

 

Summer Photos To Take Right NOW!

Summer is in full swing right now - are you taking pictures? I have to admit I have struggled a bit with the daily photo challenge this month. I'm trying to take a photo every day of the year and I missed a few in July but I'm close enough that I'm going to keep going. Summer is a great time for photographers as there are many beautiful and scenic things to capture and plenty of daylight to do it in.

That is me with my kids being pulled behind a boat on a beautiful and sunny July day. Our friends invited us to go boating with them the other day and we had so much fun!

Odds and Ends

I'm sorting through piles of papers today and doing "fun" tasks like paying bills. Feels good to be getting stuff done, but there are a lot of other things I'd rather be doing! I'm also trying to get through my inbox and blog reading so I found some little odds and ends worth sharing here.

Did you know Basic Grey has a fabric line now? You know what's funny? I saw some of these fabrics in a quilt shop and loved them, but I had no idea that Basic Grey had anything to do with them. Shows you how out of touch I am becoming when it comes to the paper scrapbooking industry. I have to stay away from the paper scrapbooking shops because I still get tempted by paper. I'm pretty sure I already own enough paper to create 200 scrapbooks or more and I'm strictly digital these days so how on earth can I justify buying any more? But fabric...well, I don't have a lot of that. But I hardly ever sew. LOL!
